Our Story
After watching many assemblies as a teacher, Christy went to her husband Ed and said, “We can do this, and we can do it better! As engineers and parents, we can create a show that is both educational and fun.” Thus, Broken Beakers Assemblies was born. Now, after spending a year cooking up fun in the lab, Christy and Ed are happy to bring fun, hands-on learning to elementary school children in Virginia. Book an assembly today and experience the fun at your school!

Christy
Christy holds a Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia and a Master’s degree in Systems Engineering from George Washington University. Christy had a decade’s worth of engineering experience before taking a sabbatical to raise her children. Inspired by the wonderful teachers she met through her children, Christy pivoted to focus her career on education and now works as a math tutor and long-term substitute teacher. When she’s not working, Christy loves to bake, swim, watch college football, and cheer on her kids at the athletic fields.

Ed
Ed holds a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering and a Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, both from Virginia Tech. Ed has 25+ years engineering experience, much of it with Fortune 100 companies. Ed loves hands-on engineering and is often found tinkering with a new project in the garage. When he’s not working, Ed loves to root for his Steelers/Pirates/Penguins, play chess, and also cheer on his kids at their sporting events.
